Here’s what I can tell you: Last night I took part in the making of a short film by author/filmmaker/artist/bon vivant Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Strangers from across Chicago and the US met up at “The Bean” in Millennium Park. Redheads, bubbles, Our Town and highly meta themes were involved.
Last night’s filming was the culmination of “The Beckoning of Lovely,” a project which began on 08/08/08. Amy hopes to release a feature film of the same name on 11/11/11. The film won’t be released onto her YouTube channel for another month. I don’t want to steal her thunder.
When I got there, I was in a cruddy mood. The singing of the above title (to the tune of “Auld Lang Syne”) didn’t help. A 22-year-old sitting next to me who screamed like she was in Oprah’s audience made it worse. But when I realized that I am a big fan of Amy’s because like me, she wonders if everyone’s getting the most they can out of their time on Earth, it got better. A lot better.
I wish you all would have been there with me!
